Who we are
The Animated Editor is a digital studio based in Limassol, Cyprus. We produce video and 2D animation, build websites, set up domains and hosting, and publish iOS and Android apps. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean The Animated Editor.
We are the data controller for the personal data described below.
You can reach us through our contact page or by phone on +357 96 064 272.
What we collect, and why
1. Enquiries you send us
When you submit the contact form, we collect the name you give, your email address, the project type and budget range you select, the message you write, and the IP address the submission came from.
- Why: to read and answer your enquiry, and to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. The IP address is recorded to limit spam and abuse.
- Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to a contract) for the enquiry itself; Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in keeping the form usable) for the IP address and rate limiting.
- Where it goes: the message is saved in this website’s own database and a copy is emailed to us. It is not sent anywhere else.
- How long: we keep enquiries for 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete them — unless they relate to work we actually carried out, in which case we keep the project records for as long as Cypriot tax and company law requires.
2. Analytics — only if you say yes
If, and only if, you choose “Accept analytics” in our cookie banner, we load Google Analytics. It tells us which pages people read and how they arrived, in aggregate. We enable IP anonymisation, and we do not use Google advertising or personalisation features.
- Legal basis: Article 6(1)(a) GDPR — your consent.
- Withdrawing: use the Cookie settings link at any time. Nothing analytics-related is loaded before you consent, and withdrawing stops it on your next page view.
3. Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard web-server logs — IP address, the page requested, browser type and a timestamp — for security, troubleshooting and fraud prevention. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure.
4. Language preference
We store a small cookie recording whether you are reading the site in English or Greek, so the site does not switch language on you. This is strictly necessary for the site to function as you have asked it to.
Cookies
Every cookie this site can set is listed, with its purpose and lifetime, in our Cookie Policy.
Who else sees your data
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Hostinger — website hosting and email delivery.
- Google Ireland Limited — website analytics, only where you have consented.
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to do so.
Transfers outside the EEA
Where you have consented to analytics, Google may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Those transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. If you do not consent to analytics, no such transfer takes place.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive data you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these, contact us through the contact page. We will respond within one month.
If something about your data is not right, please tell us first — we would much rather fix it directly, and we aim to resolve any concern quickly. You also have the right, as everyone in the EU does, to raise the matter with the supervisory authority in Cyprus, the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection (dataprotection.gov.cy).
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiry submissions are validated and sanitised, rate limited by IP, and stored privately so they are visible only to us as site administrators.
Children
This site is aimed at businesses. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date at the top.
